People scoff at it, make fun of it, mock it, call it old fashioned, and a myth.  But what it comes down to is not what "people" say, but what God says.  What it comes down to is your personal heart and mind, and your own decision when you think about eternal life.  It is not about what everyone else thinks...this life decision is about you and you only. Life is eternal and you have to decide for yourself how you want to spend your eternity - and, as old fashioned and fundamental as it may sound, there are only two choices:  accept Jesus as your Savior and have everlasting life, or spend your life and eternity without Him and all that that implies.  Jesus states in John 14:6, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (English Standard Version).  Accepting the free gift of Salvation that God has offered you is the most important decision you will ever make - you can choose it, or walk away from it.  The choice is all yours, but know this...Jesus loves you and loves you so much that he died on the cross as a sacrifice for you so that you will be able to have a relationship with your creator and have eternal life with God who loves you.

Accept the free gift of Salvation

"Short Version"

                                   How to be Saved

   1.  We are all sinners.

Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of  God"

1 John 1:8 - "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us."                           Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus

            our Lord."

   2.  God sent His Son to save us.  God's Son died on the cross and                 shed His blood so that we could be saved.                                                              John 3:16-17 - "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever                          believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the                          world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him."

      3.  If you confess your sins to God, he will forgive you.

1 John 1:9 - "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify                   us from all unrighteousness."

Romans 10:9-10 - "If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart                        that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe                    and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved."

Romans 10:13 - "“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

      4. Once you receive Jesus in your heart,

Romans 5:1-2 - "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with                          God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this                          grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God."

Romans 8:1 - "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,"

Romans 8:28-29 - " For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,          neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else          in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Asking Jesus to save you:

If you want to receive Jesus as your Savior, all you have to do is pray and confess to God that you are a sinner and that you believe in Jesus and that he died for you and then was resurrected so that you may have eternal life.  Ask God to forgive your sins.

What now?

If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, the next step is to find someone who can help answer questions and teach you so that you may grow spiritually. (A Bible believing church is the best place to go for this). Get yourself a Bible and start reading it.  Also, you need to publicly profess your faith.  Romans 10:9 tells us that "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."  Also, follow the Lord and take part in believer's baptism.

"In Depth Version"

In I Corinthians 15:3-8 The Apostle Paul gives testimony of the reality of the resurrection of Jesus.  He states:  "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me" (English Standard Version).

                               *                              *                              *

We are all sinners - including you.  We are all born of fallen man and there is none who are righteous.

Romans 3:23  For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (New International Version)

I John 1:8  If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. (NIV)

What is sin?  The definition of sin is "missing the mark."  It is a failure to live up to God's standards. Because by His very nature, God is holy and cannot be near sin.  That is why we need Jesus in our life to have a relationship with God.  Jesus was the unblemished sacrifice who took all of our sin onto himself so that all you have to do is accept his gift of life.

Sin:  I John 5:17 says that “All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death..”

Without God in our lives we are all spiritually blind and deaf.  We cannot communicate with a Holy (holy = pure) God.  Sin is a disease that cripples our spiritual selves and the only way to cure that disease is to accept Jesus.  That is why God sent Jesus; because he loves all of us - including you - so much that he wants to have a relationship with us.

John 3:16-20 states that "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God" (NIV).

Doing good deeds will not "get you to heaven."  Ephesians 2:8-9 states that

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast" (NIV).

What is grace?  Grace is the gift of God to us that even though we do not deserve it, he has given us love and mercy through the death and resurrection

of Jesus.

John 1:9 is clear, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness (NIV).

   The Cross

Jesus' death removed our sin and guilt:

  • "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!"  (NIV, John 1:29).

  •  "We're all like sheep who’ve wandered off and gotten lost.  We’ve all done our    own thing, gone our own way.  And God has piled all our sins, everything          we’ve done wrong, on him, on him" (The Message, Isaiah 53:6).

  • "Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself" (NIV, Hebrews 9:26).

Jesus removed the wrath of God from us and took it upon himself:

  •  "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [the sins of] the whole world" (NIV, 1 John 2:2).

  • "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins" (NIV, 1 John 4:10).

  • "Whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;" (NIV, Romans 3:25).

  Jesus reconciled us to God:

"For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation" (NIV, Romans 5:10-11).

We’ve been released from the curse of the law

"Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.”[a] He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit" (NIV, Galatians 3:13-14).

Redeemed us from the guilt of our sin.

"And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus".  (Redeemed means To recover ownership by paying a specified sum). (NIV, Romans 3:24).

Redeemed us from the power of sin.

(I Peter 1:18-19) "For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect" (NIV, I Peter 1:18-19).

(IT MEANS OUR SLAVERY TO SIN IS BROKEN!!!)

Defeated the Powers of Darkness

 MEANING  OUR  SINS  ARE  FORGIVEN!!!

"When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you[a] alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, 14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross" (NIV, Colossians 2:13-14)

He was our substitute.

  • "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (NIV, Romans 5:8).

  • "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities;the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed" (NIV, Isaiah 53:5)

The Blood that Jesus shed on the Cross covers our sins and by asking repenting (turning away from) of our sins and asking Jesus into our heart, his blood is covering our sin.

Blood represents life.  Leviticus 17:11 says :  “For the life of the flesh is in the blood and I have given it for you . . . to make atonement for your soul.”

Without blood we would not have life. When sin came into the picture it polluted our lives and we could no longer have fellowship with God because He is holy.  The sacrifices of the Bible were symbolic of repentance and God looked at the heart offering it more than the blood being spilled.

If you were ill and needed a blood transfusion would you refuse the life being offered to you in the new blood?  Well that’s exactly what Jesus did for us on the cross.  He offered us a transfusion.  Will you accept it?”

 Jesus is resurrected.

The resurrection is what the entire plan of salvation hangs on.  Without the resurrection there can be no salvation.

  1. The resurrection means the Christ is undeniably God.

  2. It meant the God accepted Christ’s atoning work on the Cross. Romans 4:25 states: "He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification."

  3. It assures mankind of a righteous judgment. Romans 5:19 says, "For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous."

  4. It guarantees that our bodies will be raised in the end. I Corinthians 15:20 states "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep."    Revelation 1:18 says, "I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades."

5.  It means that death will ultimately be abolished.

Without the resurrection of Jesus there would be absolutely no hope for the future.

 Faith

You cannot get back to God through intellect, morals, or works.  (John 3:3  Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.)

When Jesus died on the cross he said, “It is finished.” (John 19:30).  Its all been done.  All we have to do is have faith (trust in Him as Savior) and repent (turn to Him as master).  (“repenting is changing an attitude that will change the action.”

 Asking Jesus to save you:

If you want to receive Jesus as your Savior, all you have to do is pray and confess to God that you are a sinner and that you believe in Jesus and that he died for you and then was resurrected so that you may have eternal life.  Ask God to forgive your sins.

What now?

Evidence that Jesus Christ is real and is truly resurrected.

In order to be saved you have to believe that Jesus is real and is truly the Son of God.  Many do not believe this.  I believe that  in all people there is something deep inside calling out to know their creator. There are many historical eyewitness accounts to all of the Bible's account of Jesus in records other than the Bible.  I challenge you to do your own research on this and see the evidence of Jesus for yourself.   Here is a suggested website to start you research:
